As part of our Holistic support that we provide to the older people of South Lakeland, we will undertake a full assessment regarding finances where applicable in view to maximising a client’s income whilst also reducing their expenditure, to ensure clients have enough disposable income to remain safe, warm and comfortable within their environments and are financially able to fund any extra support they main need to sustain this.

Our Officers are trained members of the Alternative Office for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). We are able to assess clients’ potential eligibility for means-tested and health-related benefits and allowances, and will fully support clients through the process of requesting and completion the relevant application forms and paperwork that so many clients find a great challenge. We are able to provide low level advocacy in the event of a benefit decision being unfavourable, and will guide clients through the Appeal process also.

Our Officers support clients in identifying any debt related issues and corresponds with the relevant authorities to put plans in to place where necessary. We liaise with other Debt Specialist agencies to provide a holistic service, and will also support clients with any budgeting advice needed to ensure they do not incur any further debts and are able to sustain any repayment plans long-term.
