We understand that older people may find themselves in financial difficulty for many reasons, and often for the first time in their lives due to significant life events. Age UK South Lakeland is accredited by the Financial Conduct Authority to provide free and impartial debt advice. Our Officers will ensure that an older person's income has been maximised accordingly, their expenditure reduced as appropriate and ensure they have awareness as to their budget and skills to manage this.

Following this, if any debt has been identified, our trained Officers will work with older people to support them in liaising with the creditors and devising payment plans as necessary dependant upon disposable income, or advising of their other options to ensure that the debt is acknowledged and acted upon appropriately.
