Shed Groups are similar to garden sheds - a place to pursue practical interests at leisure, to practice skills and enjoy making and mending, the difference is that garden sheds and their activities are often solitary in nature while Shed Groups are the opposite. They are about social connections, friendship building, sharing skills and knowledge and of course a lot of laughter, all with the shared aim of working towards a finished product, often as part of community projects, while having fun and gaining a renewed sense of purpose and belonging.

Locally there is now a choice of Men in Sheds groups available; the long standing Men in Sheds group at the Age UK South Lakeland Warehouse continues to meet, in addition to a popular Ladies in the Shed Group also.
