Holmedale Nature Network
Richmondshire
We are a multi-parish biodiversity project based across parishes from Barningham to Skeeby along a shared watercourse that runs into the Swale.
We are currently focussing on three types of activities: habitat improvement projects; environmental monitoring and surveys; and educational talks and activities. As a young organisation, we are collaborating with established organisations (such as the Yorkshire Dales Rivers Trust and the White Rose Forest) to assist in delivery of our activities and to gain the experience and skills needed to achieve substantive outcomes. We are starting with relatively small scale projects that are within our capabilities but have aspirations to progress to larger scale projects as our capabilities improve.
Our habitat improvements projects include work done by volunteers, such as removal of invasive non-native Himalayan Balsam and tree/hedge planting and maintenance. We are also undertaking larger projects in partnership with other organisations.
