At Caritas Care, we’re proud of the comprehensive range of services that we provide to people of all ages who are affected by hearing loss. Our Bridging the Gap project operates across Cumbria providing practical advice and support to people who have an acquired hearing loss.
Hearing loss can affect all aspects of a person’s life. Not only is this a frustrating and debilitating condition but it can affect relationships with family, friends and colleagues leaving people feeling socially isolated and withdrawn.
Bridging the Gap offers services that support people to regain their independence and enjoy life to the full.
Modern hearing aids are amazing pieces of equipment that give freedom to many people, but like most frequently used electronic pieces of equipment needs regular maintenance and care to ensure that they are working efficiently.
Bridging the Gap provides drop-in services to people that have NHS hearing aids to provide simple checks and maintenance to avoid unnecessary frustration and isolation for people in Cumbria.
Although a funded service, this funding does not fully cover all costs and therefore requires subsiding to maintain the level of service we provide. A donation of £3.00 per person, per visit is recommended to support the service in your area.
The clinics are accessible and local, especially in areas where people would have to travel long distances to reach their Audiology Department.
Our fully trained team can clean, re-tube and provide new batteries for most types of NHS hearing aids (please call 01228 595937 in advance to check that we have supplies that are compatible with your type of hearing aid).
Whilst you are there the team can discuss your hearing loss and offer practical advice on specialist equipment that may help you to carry out everyday tasks that may seem difficult right now.
(N.B. We do not sell equipment or endorse any manufacturers, we simply inform our service users of technology and aids on the market that they may wish to make an informed decision about).
So, don’t let you or a loved one suffer in silence, contact Bridging the Gap or click on the link to our website to find a drop-in clinic in your area.
