Cumbria Community Foundation (CCF) is an independent charity that connects people who care with causes that matter. CCF exists to tackle poverty and disadvantage and strengthen Cumbria’s communities by inspiring philanthropic giving. Since 1999, we have awarded more than £37m in grant aid and currently have more than 60 grant making funds.
CCF provides a simplified approach to effective charitable giving. As one of the UK’s leading accredited community foundations, we have the expertise and local knowledge to help local individuals, families, companies, charitable trusts and public sector bodies to invest in their communities.
If you are seeking funding:
Organisations seeking funding are required to complete an application form on-line at CCF’s website – www.cumbriafoundation.org . Our website explains which groups are eligible to make applications and the information you’ll need to include. It’s always a good idea to ring our Grants and Donor Services Team to discuss your project proposal before completing and submitting your application form – call us on 01900 825760.
Once your application form is submitted, our Grants and Donor Services team will assess this according to the criteria of the relevant fund and CCF’s grant making priorities. These are:
• Improving the lives of disadvantaged children and families
• Improving the life skills, education, employability and enterprise of disadvantaged people
• Supporting older vulnerable people
• Improving the health and well-being of the people of Cumbria
• Strengthening and supporting fragile communities
• Enabling people to access arts, sports, culture, heritage and the environment
Our staff may also visit or telephone you to gather further information on your project or the organisation you represent.
If your application is eligible for funding it will then be presented to one of our grants committees which comprise people with expertise in issues affecting local communities and the challenges facing some of the most vulnerable people in Cumbria. Once the committee members have made their decision we’ll let you know the result within 5 working days of the meeting.
If you would like to make a donation, create a grant-making fund or leave a legacy in support of our county:
Our fundholders and supporters benefit from our in-depth knowledge of Cumbrian communities and organisations which we have gained from 18 years of grant-making and investment in the County. If you would like to discuss how you can help us tackle need in Cumbria, contact a member of our Development Team on 01900 825760. We’ll be delighted to tell you more about our work and meet with you to discuss your ideas.
