The Bay: A Blueprint For Recovery is a new project supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery and run jointly by Cumbria Wildlife Trust, Lancashire Wildlife Trust, Eden Project North, and Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust. The programme aims to help people get involved in nature’s recovery whilst at the same time helping their own wellbeing by enjoying the beautiful scenery of Morecambe Bay. We have hubs in Barrow, Morecambe, and Wyre.
Sessions are run several times a week by the Community Engagement Officer and the Nature and Wellbeing Officer. Community events involve nature walks, citizen science surveys, DIY, art and craft activities, and gardening. Events are held in a range of locations, and all are welcome. Nature and wellbeing events are for smaller groups of people who have either been referred to the session as part of social prescribing or have self-referred. These events are also nature-based, but with a greater focus on mindfulness.
