Cumberland
Westmorland and Furness
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service is the statutory Fire and Rescue service for the Shire county of Cumbria, England. Of the 38 fire stations, there are six whole time, two day-crewed and 30 retained.
We are committed to being a Fire and Rescue Service that works with residents, businesses, communities and agencies to make Cumbria a safe place to live, work and visit.
Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service provides varied services to the community:
Safe & Well Visits - Our Safe and Well Visit will be a telephone call to you, asking questions about your current household situation and a fire safety assessment. This will help us to find out if there are any potential hazards and vulnerabilities in your home, then we will give you advice about how to keep you and your family Safe and Well.
If it's determined that a face-to-face visit would be more beneficial to your individual circumstances, this can be arranged after the initial phone call assessment.
We may also fit a 10 year powered sealed cell smoke detector free of charge after we have given you the fire safety information.
We will also provide an additional health questionnaire with simple questions on social wellbeing, preventing slips, trips and falls at home, and advice on where to get further support if you want to stop smoking or reduce your alcohol consumption.
Heartstart Training - Heart and circulatory disease is the biggest cause of premature death in the United Kingdom and there are also approximately two and a half million people living with it. Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service work in partnership with the British Heart Foundation and the North West Ambulance Service Community First Responders to deliver the 'Heartstart Cumbria' initiative. The aim of the initiative is to teach members of the public Emergency Life Support (ELS) skills. The courses last approximately two hours, are FREE and are delivered by trained 'Heartstart Trainers' who are Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service employees/volunteers.
We also deliver Road Awareness Training and various other programs within our communities keep Cumbria a safe place to live.
