South Lakes Dementia Community
Westmorland and Furness
The South Lakes Dementia Community is made up of a range of supportive organisations working together to radically improve the lives of people living with dementia and their family and carers.
We reach this collaboration through working with dementia related professionals and organisations, delivering a monthly dementia hub, running rural dementia hubs and supporting local 'Community Come Dancing' projects.
Our aim is to create a Dementia Friendly Community within Kendal and the South Lakes area to ensure people are more attentive and understanding to the needs of those affected by dementia.
Unfortunately we had to close our face to face services due to the COVID pandemic social restrictions and the lockdown situation. The monthly hub has become virtual to continue the original aim of getting information and advice to people who are living with or are affected by dementia. We run or monthly Virtual Dementia Hubs through Zoom on the second Tuesday of each month from 2-3pm. To request a link to join email the charity organiser at [email protected].
We also work closely with Dementia Enablers based in the local community and regularly connect to people living with dementia and their carers through social media.
