Operating locally for 25 years, Intact, provides a multi-faceted ‘grassroots’ community hub for people of all ages, based in Ingol Preston and within England’s 7% most deprived areas. We are a ‘well-established’ organisation, ‘rooted’ in its community being in the heart of the Ingol and Tanterton neighbourhoods. The Intact Centre has training, treatment & quiet rooms, a café and food pantry, IT suite, large multi-use studio, and a nature reserve situated behind our building.
Our core work includes:
Drop-in and 1-1 support – helps people overcome their problems, including welfare, debt and consumer advice and support. a) Direct Help - provides confidential support, information and guidance b) Fitter Finances - appointment based service supports residents to manage their finances; avoid debt; address debt issues c) Counselling – appointment based provided weekly by 2 fully qualified volunteer counsellors
Employability Programmes: helps people find a job. a) Work club aimed at getting people ‘work ready’ by creating CV’s, work searches b) Building Better Opportunities Programme: these specialised services are aimed at specific age groups 16-25yrs, disadvantaged
Digital Programmes: gives people access to FREE supported IT training a) Computer Drop in – daily access to computers/free Wi-Fi b) UK Online – gives people that are ‘digitally excluded’ access to 1-1 support to get online and learn about IT. Volunteer led, approximately 10 digital champions deliver this service
Food Services: a) Whitbys Pantry supports people in crisis and provide good quality food with low cost membership. Using Fare Share food we redistributes it weekly providing an inexpensive way of feeding local residents with low incomes.
Family, social and health related activities - giving people somewhere to go and something to do
Well-established volunteering programme - Investors in Volunteers status with a range of work experience opportunities in catering, I.T. the environment and centre support and advocacy.
