Catholic Care (Diocese of Leeds)
Craven
For over 150 years Catholic Care (Diocese of Leeds) has been reaching out to those in need, those who are disadvantaged, vulnerable and marginalised, and those often forgotten or left behind by society. We employ around 150 staff and have around 60 volunteers supporting our community work, who between them delivered a wide range of services benefitting over 6,500 people in the 2018-19 financial year.
The Charity’s regulated services remain the backbone of our work. We provide care and support in:
• 11 homes for adults with a learning disability
• 1 residential children’s home
• 60 schools around the Diocese through the services delivered into schools
• 10 flats in a mental health accommodation service
• service through our Domiciliary Care Service into people’s homes
These services, which have increasingly complex contractual and regulatory demands, do not stand still and we are constantly evolving them so that we keep the needs of the individual at the heart of what we do.
Our work in the community is continually increasing with new groups for older people and for little ones at Stay and Play. We have projects supporting young carers and tackling poverty by supporting children and their families through our Holiday Hunger Project. Our Community Counselling Service is supporting those where life is simply not straight forward. The Gianna: Baby Bank Plus Project is now supporting more mothers and their babies than ever before, especially trafficked women and those from the asylum seeking and refugee communities, those living on the very margins of society. The Charity has recently taken on the role of Lead Sponsor for the Community Sponsorship Scheme for refugees and has welcomed its first Syrian refugee family.
