The Practice Health Volunteers are a group of 8 Volunteers, most of whom are DBS certificated, working within the Health and Wellbeing Sectors in Skipton and Craven. We operate for the express purpose of providing support and stimulation for the elderly, infirm, lonely and socially isolated in our community. Our Volunteers won the award for the Best patient Group at the first ever Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven CCG Awards in October 2017 and were also recently nominated and shortlisted for an award at the recent Craven Community Champions awards.
Our volunteers work within 5 support groups operated by ourselves or our partners, including Peer Talk support group for depression suffers, Just Sing, an Art/Craft group, Stroke Support and Memory Lane Cafe for sufferers of early stage dementia and those who are isolated and lonely
We are an independent group which raises it's own funds though donations, fund raisers and Grants and we work closely and receive referrals from the GP Surgeries and social Prescribers in our area.
