Craven Mental Health & Wellbeing Forum
Craven
WE ARE NOW CLOSED.
Following the decision of Alex Merrett to step down from their role as Chair in January, the Forum has engaged in a process to explore next steps. This included round table discussions at the meeting in January, a Survey Monkey survey conducted with the support of Community First Yorkshire, and feedback from the survey and further discussion at the most recent meeting in April.
The decision of those members present at April’s Forum meeting was that, despite its notable successes, the forum was unsustainable in its current format and that its business would be wound up. This was principally in recognition of the huge amount of time and energy Alex brought to the role in a voluntary capacity and the challenge of replicating that.
Nevertheless, everyone present felt that it was important that the work of the Forum continued in some way, especially around key areas of information, networking and influence. As such a commitment was made by a range of members to explore ways of ensuring these aspects were sustained.
Regarding information sharing, Marion Tweed Rycroft from NYCC Stronger Communities, will continue to circulate relevant information around mental health matters that is passed to her through her e-mail list (though this will not encompass the role of active information gathering around mental health that Alex provided). If you are not already on the Stronger Communities e-mail list, please e-mail Marion directly on [email protected]
Regarding opportunities to network and influence, members of the forum currently on the Craven Communities Together (CCT) leadership group (the local healthcare partnership for Craven) have agreed to bring up the potential of addressing mental health issues as part of the monthly CCT meetings. These monthly cross sector meetings discuss a themed topic and as Mental Health is already one of CCT’s workstreams, it was felt that this would be a good framework in which to practically continue these elements of the Forum’s work. If you are not currently on the CCT mailing list, please email Tracy Mount at [email protected]
Regarding information sharing, networking and partnership work, CCT have also committed to using the Compass in Craven E-hub across the partnership https://craven.compassehub.com/ and recommend that organisations register to use this via the link on the Organisations page https://craven.compassehub.com/organisations This will increasingly be used as the website to disseminate a range of information around health and social care including matters pertaining to mental health.
