BEST was formed in 2008 with the object of making life in Bentham and the surrounding area more sustainable, by working with the local community and relevant agencies to raise awareness of environmental issues, and by trying to influence decision making.
BEST provides support to individuals and groups wishing to take action to be more sustainable, by providing advice and information, particularly on local food, energy, and plastic.
BEST achieves this by organising events - discussion evenings, films, information days, and festivals - by having a presence at local events, by publishing relevant material in the local press, and by making available information. It also has a thermal imaging camera which is available to local people wanting to reduce heat loss from their homes.
