Cumbria Hearing Loss Equipment Service and BID Cumbria - are contracted countywide by Cumbria County Council. We work with Deaf sign language users and hard of hearing people promoting independence, preventing isolation and depression and work closely with other organisations.
There are 4 people in the team, 3 Technical Equipment Officers and an Advice and Support Officer for the Cumbria County. We assess deaf and hard of hearing people and provide equipment on eligibility and need and give advice on a range of hearing loss related issues such as hearing aids and Tinnitus. We also support people to access services, promote their independence and assist with difficulties with organisations they may be having due to their hearing loss.
