Copeland Age and Advice Service (CAAS), is a not for profit Social Enterprise in Copeland that provides information, advice and support to individuals over the age of fifty-five in relation to financial matters, housing issues and in enabling people to continue to live safely and independently in their own homes or wherever they choose.
Helping over 55's to support themselves and manage financially:
• Advice and help on money matters
• Benefit checks – we have been approved as an agent for the DWP
• Support to complete applications for relevant benefits
• A form filling service for products and services
• Support in setting up of Lasting Power Of Attorneys
• Assistance to access bereavement benefits / support
• Support with grant applications e.g. Disabled Facilities Grants
• Energy saving advice from our Energy Efficiency Champion
• Liaising with outside agencies/working in partnership
Understanding and accessing relevant Housing Options:
• Helping to make homes suitable for later life
• Providing details of alternative housing, sheltered or residential accommodation
• Support with housing applications and banding
• Supporting with bids and liaising with landlords on client’s behalf
• Liaising with landlords regarding repairs and adaptions
• Providing general information and support
Supporting Independent living:
• Holistic Assessments of the home environment, including advice on aids and adaptions by qualified
Trusted Assessors
• Sale of low cost, as new aids, adaptions and equipment to support independent living
• Support with Blue Bade applications
• Referrals to outside agencies including Adult Social Care and relevant Health services
• Wheelchair Hire
• Sale of radar keys and key safes
• Digital Device loaning service with optional support to become more digitally enabled
• Dementia support services including information packs and a fortnightly Memory Cafe and Singing
for the Brain sessions
General Advice and Information:
• Support around Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults from Abuse
• Telephone and face to face befriending services
• Support to restore and build confidence and help to access local clubs and groups through our
social activities booklet
