Amy's Care
Cumberland
Amys Care is a small not- for -profit organisation. Our aims are to improve the quality of life for older adults and in particular, those living with dementia; improve the quality of life for carers and to increase social and community cohesion. We do this by providing daily clubs which offer joy and friendship through social activity, engagement and choice.
Our social clubs operate from a variety of community spaces, encouraging people to come together to make friends, enjoy activity and live life. We gather for tea, coffee and social activities and always offer a hot two-course lunch, home-cooked by the community space we are using that day or at a pub or café. Every day includes a trip or visit, where possible to experience the outside environment. Activities include country walks, films, matinee performances, visits to nature reserves, sea and lakes; exhibitions, community and village hall events, projects with schools, arts and craft activities. We participate in community activities such as Singing for the Soul and Dancing Recall sessions where possible.
Amy's Care can arrange transport, to overcome barriers to participation and help tackle isolation and loneliness issues in the older generation.
