South Lakes Talking Newspaper Association
Westmorland and Furness
We are a charity dedicated to bringing to the blind and visually impaired an audio version of news from the Westmorland Gazette.
We have been involved in this work for over 40 years. The service is entirely free to our listener clients.
Each week throughout the year we send out to our listeners extracts from the Westmorland Gazette.
We have more than 40 volunteers who, working on a rota basis, produce scripts with articles from the paper, read and record the scripts, transfer the recordings onto memory sticks and arrange despatch via the 'Articles for the Blind' service, provided by the Post Office.
We know from the feedback we receive how much our work is appreciated by our listeners. For many it is a lifeline which keeps them in touch with the local community.
