Oaklea is a charitable organisation based in Kendal but covering the North of England. It has a vision based on the principle that everyone has a positive contribution to make to society and the right to control their own lives. Our philosophy is to maximise the potential for independence of each individual, helping people to lead fulfilling lives within the home, workplace and community.

If you want to know what Oaklea is really about, strip it back to its bare essentials - we’re all about people.
We’re very proud of how, every day, we help transform so many different lives in a multitude of ways.
The mechanics of our organisation mean there are lots of important people in the background (mostly unseen by those whose day to day living depends on us) making sure Oaklea delivers its promises, but our focus and motivation is always for the people we assist.
Our teams operate throughout the North of England, covering an area from Nottingham and Cheshire up to Cumbria, Northumberland and the Borders.
We provide home care, supported living, run activity clubs, shortbreaks for families and children with disabilities etc. We also have a CIC (Community interest company) Right2Work which provides day care opportunities, training and employment advice. Oaklea Group has also set up the hugely successful Appleby Hub - a community centred approach to providing a space for everyone to use (Youth clubs through to health and wellbeing, to a wholefood cafe).
